Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the release of the now legendary Sonic the Hedgehog. For this happy day we are giving you eight Sonic characters that don’t get the love that they truly deserve. Or that should probably be happily forgotten. Probably that last one.
Big the Cat may seem like he is looking for a fight, but in reality he’s quite the easy going fellow. His favorite hobby is fishing, which honestly shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. He’s a cat, what else would you think that he would love?
Vector the Crocodile is a fantastic role model for young crocodiles. He plays against the stereotype that all crocodiles want to hurt people, he’s here to show the world that crocodiles can be more than just the antagonist to a rogue Australian crocodile molester.
Blaze the Cat is not of this time, she’s traveled with Silver Sonic (What?) to the past. Unfortunately she’s all business and she’s here only to stop a disaster. She’s also come here by way of Eggman when he stole her emeralds, in every world he goes he’s just a rampant baddie.
Where Vector deviated from the crocodile stereotype, Nack the Weasel is here to reinforce every negative thing about weasels. He’s here to steal the Chaos Emeralds for profit, not the nicest weasel out there. Someday there will be a weasel that breaks through that glass ceiling.
Oh Charmy Bee, you are just so damned cute and clumsy. His antics bring quite a bit of levity to the world. Without him it would be all business and no fun, thank goodness otherwise the Sonic world would be a very bleak place with spikes everywhere and an evil scientist that truly excels at being evil.
This ninja warrior is known as Espio the Chameleon. He’s the strong, yet calm, backbone of the world of Sonic. He brings his military cool with him wherever he goes and makes sure to speak softly and carry a big stick, Teddy Roosevelt would be proud.
Cream the Rabbit is daughter to Vanilla Rabbit, she’s been raised like a princess so she’s a tad naive. She may be naive but she makes up for it with the ability to fly, sure it’s nothing like an eagle, but it’s still pretty cool. She never travels alone, she’s always joined by …
