With Fallout 4 available for half-off in the Steam Summer Sale, we figured it would be a great time to point out these Easter eggs and references once again. Enjoy!
Bethesda’s games are always packed full of Easter eggs and references. Some are fairly obvious, and some are more subtle. Throughout the life of a game like this, more and more of these additions will be found. We always enjoy sharing these sorts of things, just because it’s fun to see what the developers choose to include. Obviously, there are some spoilers here, so proceed with caution!

Grognak the Barbarian
Grognak the Barbarian was a comic book that was introduced in the mid-21st century. Finding one in Fallout 4 will give you an additional rank of the Barbarian perk, which raises the critical damage of melee attacks. If that’s not enough for you, you can also look like Grognak as well. Head to the Hubris Comic Shop, clear the area, and snatch up the Grognak outfit (and the giant axe as well).
The Vault-Tec Rep
Early on in Fallout 4, you’ll be visited by a representative from Vault-Tec, who informs you that you’ve been added to the list of people cleared to enter the vault. You’ll see him again as he tries to get into the Vault, only to be turned away. But he’s not incinerated with everyone else. If you make your way to Goodneighbor, you can find the ghoulified Vault-Tec rep in the Hotel Rexford. He’s a bit surprised to see you.
Kremvh’s Tooth
Deep inside Dunwich Borers, you can find a pool of irradiated water. Dive in (and survive the radiation), and you’ll find Kremvh’s Tooth, a unique dagger that poisons anyone it hits, as well as causing a bleed. The dagger is both a reference to the Lovecraftian mythos, as well as a callback to the “Dark Heart of Blackhall” quest from the Fallout 3 Point Lookout DLC. It’s also the basis for our very own Jon Bolding’s upcoming dark cult playthrough.
Aliens!
Remember the aliens from Fallout 3’s Mothership Zeta DLC? There’s a very similar looking alien in a random moment in Fallout 4. At some point in the game, usually after you complete a dungeon, your companion will say something like, “Did you just see that?” You cna look up and see the ship falling from the sky. Once you track it down, you can follow the green blood to find the injured alien. Take him out, and you’ll get your hands on the Alien Blaster weapon.
Jaws
Sometimes you can walk right past an Easter egg or reference in a game, simply because there’s nothing to call your attention to it. But if you head northwest of Diamond City, you can find a mutated shark (or dolphin?) that attacked one unlucky captain. It’s a pretty obvious reference to the “You’re going to need a bigger boat,” scene from the movie Jaws. If you hop into the water, you can even see the shark cage they used in the movie.
Opie from Sons of Anarchy
In the Badtfl Regional Office, you can find a terminal that contains the info on a prisoner named Opie Hurst. The description (and the name) match up nicely with actor Ryan Hurst’s character in Sons of Anarchy, Opie Winston. It’s also good to note that Ron Perlman, whose dulcet tones grace the intro for Fallout 4, also stars in Sons of Anarchy.
The G.O.A.T. Returns
Early on in Fallout 3, your character has to take the G.O.A.T. (Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test) to determine your skills. It does not set them in stone, and you can freely change them if you desire. In Fallout 4, you’ll have to take the G.O.A.T. once again, although not to set your skills. Instead, you’ll find the town of Covenant uses the test to determine whether a stranger is human or Synth. You can even get an achievement from completing it.
Cheers
One of the most visited landmarks in Boston is the famous bar at Cheers. The centerpiece of the long-running TV show is also present in Fallout 4. What appear to be Sam and Diane can be seen in the floor behind the bar embracing one another, and Cliff and Norm are still together at the bar (you can pick out Cliff from his postal uniform). THe final clue is the name of the joint: Prost Bar. “Prost” is the German version of the American toast, “Cheers.”
