This year promises to be one of the best for gaming. To prove our point we give you eight games slated for release in 2015 that are sure to be what everyone is playing. So get ready for these great games, you may want to set some time aside to enjoy these instant classics. Which games did we miss from the list? What are you looking forward to in this upcoming year?
Dying Light is the latest from Techland, who also brought us the Call of Juarez series as well as Dead Island. January 27th will see the release of this survival horror game, it promises to scare your pants off. You get to play as the protagonist Kyle Crane as you explore a strange land, and watch as society crumbles around you.
Capcom is getting into the episodic market with their upcoming February release of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. The first episode sees its release on February 17, so it’s just around the corner. If you’re a fan of Resident Evil or just episodic games in general then this is right up your alley.
March 17th sees the release of the latest game in the Battlefield franchise with Battlefield Hardline. This time around they aren’t putting you in the military trenches, this time you’re being thrust into the war on crime. You join the thin blue line as you attempt to keep the other bad men from the door.
April’s big release is Mortal Combat X. No this isn’t Mortal Kombat 10, well because this is their 21st Mortal Kombat game. They really should have just gone all out and made it Mortal Kombat X-Treme, but I guess that ship has sailed. If you’re a fan of fighting games then you are already looking forward to this ball of fists, if you aren’t a fan then this is a good time to start.
Batman promises to make June a great month. Batman: Arkham Knight is finally making its way to fans on June 2nd, so the summer won’t be as bleak as it could be. If you’ve played the previous Batman titles then this is the logical next step in the series, so don’t get all hung up on the last release and hop into the future with Batman pretending to be a knight.
Final Fantasy XIV has been up and running for a while now, and this spring we should get to see the latest expansion to the popular Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn with Heavensward. Besides the extra quests that come with an expansion they’re also expanding the playable area of the game, so you’ll have more places to look for trouble.
Dead Island was a wildly popular game, then they released the less popular Dead Island: Riptide, which really didn’t meet any of the expectations of the fans. Well now they’re coming out with Dead Island 3 2. This time around they’re taking Techland off of the development job and handing the reigns to Yager Development. After Yager’s 2012 release of the surprisingly good Spec Ops: The Line they’ll be working on many more games.
Mad Max was initially planned to be released in 2014, then as with most games it got delayed. Hopefully the delay was to make the game better and not just a marketing ploy. Maybe the delay was so that they could re-record the main character’s voice, you see when they initially showed it to gaming journalists the main character had an American accent. After some hoopla over that snafu they then decided that they really should make the character at least sound Australian.
