Godzilla is coming out soon. To celebrate its release we give you eight possible monsters you may see in the upcoming movie. Buckle up because with all of these monsters around we’re going to have a bit of a bumpy ride.
Jet Jaguar first appeared in the 1973 film Godzilla vs. Megalon, where he teamed up with Godzilla to fight against Megalon and Gigan. Jet Jaguar was the result of a contest that Toho hosted to create a new hero. The winner came up with Red Alone, who went on to be renamed Jet Jaguar.
Anguirus was introduced to the masses in the 1955 film Godzilla Raids Again, the second installment in the franchise. His animosity with Godzilla stems back to when they were both roaming the Earth millions of years ago. Anguirus hated hostile creatures, which is why he and Godzilla aren’t the best of friends.
Mothra isn’t one of the more obscure monsters in the Godzilla universe. She first appeared as the title character of her own film Mothra that was released in 1961, this film featured the two tiny twins that speak for her. Mothra didn’t face off against Godzilla until 1964 when they starred in Mothra vs. Godzilla, where it turns out that Mothra is Earth’s only hope against the lizard invader.
Baragon first appeared in the 1965 Toho film Frankenstein vs. Baragon. In this flick Baragon is leaving behind a trail of destruction, the blame falls squarely onto Frankenstein. Baragon finally comes out and is about to kill yet another person when Frankenstein comes to his aid. Baragon is clearly not one of the good guys, although Frankenstein is once again misunderstood.
MechaGodzilla first came to the big screen in 1974 with Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla. In this addition to the franchise MechaGodzilla is mistaken for Godzilla and is creating quite a bit of havoc in and around Japan. The actual Godzilla soon appears to save the world from this mechanical monstrosity.
Biollante first came to the screens when it first fought Godzilla in 1989’s Godzilla vs. Biollante. It is the result of genetic experiments on roses. Biollante first appears as a rose, but that soon changes when it reached it second form. It’s ultimate form was more like a plant with the mouth of a crocodile, it’s like Little Shop of Horrors on steroids.
King Ghidorah made its first appearance in the aptly titled 1964 film Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. This golden dragon monster has two legs, three heads, giant bat-like wings and two tails. This creature is like three Godzillas fused together with wings, definitely not something to be trifled with.
Destoroyah made its first appearance in 1995’s Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. It starts in its 3 mm insect sized form, it then soon reaches its final 120 meter tall demonic form. He makes himself an enemy when he kills Godzilla Junior, this leads to a battle with the monster himself.
