This month we’re getting quite a few great movie releases, so let’s take a look at the best that Hollywood has to offer this month. So make a point of getting out to the theater to check out a movie or two.
Interstellar will have you questioning time. This big budget flick from the director of The Prestige and Inception promises to turn reality on its ear with an interaction with a black hole. The side effects of heading into black holes are time dilation and lots of money at the box office. So keep November 7th free so you can put this into your eye holes.
The film adaptation of Marvel’s Big Hero 6 is hitting theaters on November 7th. This time around Disney’s adaptation is going to be a bit more animated than usual. Big Hero 6 takes us to the bustling metropolis of San Fansokyo, where a young genius and his robot pull together a team of crime fighters to unravel a mystery. This promises to keep you at the edge of your seat.
This upcoming film, Foxcatcher, has a star studded cast that should blow everyone away. This biographical drama takes place in 1996 and revolves around the murder of an Olympic champion wrestler. You’ll see Steve Carell playing against type in, what promises to be, a very dramatic roll. If you find yourself at the theater on November 14th you may want to consider this film if the next entry in the gallery is sold out.
November 14 also has the release of the much anticipated sequel to Dumb and Dumber with Dumb and Dumber To. This picks up twenty years after the events of the first film, and from the looks of it the characters pick up right where they left off. Considering that the first film, Dumb and Dumber, could be considered high art the bar has been set pretty high for the sequel.
November 14 also sees the release of the Jon Stewart helmed Rosewater. This flick is about an English reporter that gets detained in Iran for 100 days, and in that time the reporter goes through some very serious interrogation. This tale is based on the true story of reporter Maziar Bahari, so in this case the truth is so horrific that it could work as fiction.
One of the most anticipated films of the year has to be the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The blockbuster series comes back again with this tale of class war and revolution, making it very relevant to our times. This time around Katniss isn’t going to be fighting the status quo in the Hunger Games, but in the real world with real people. So set aside some time on November 21 because this is all that anyone will be talking about.
If you like computers or spies then you really need to check out The Imitation Game. It’s just like The Hunger Games but not at all, rather than a competition to kill off your competitors it’s a competition to break codes. November 21st has everyone’s favorite Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch, playing the computing pioneer Alan Turing. So you can watch as Sherlock Holmes breaks codes, kind of like Batman sans angst.
The Babadook is an Australian horror film that is getting a release on November 28th. This Aussie thriller surrounds a single mother and her over-active child Sam. They become aware of a book called Mister Babadook, which causes a domino effect of evil. So if you’re a fan of supernatural horror, or of good things, then you really should check this out.
