8 Time Lords That Didn’t Need A Medical Degree

Today just so happens to be the birthday of one of our favorite Doctors, David Tennant. So for today we are giving you eight of the most memorable Doctors in the history of Doctoring. Make sure you have your sonic screwdriver at the ready, and hopefully you’ll have K-9 at your side.

William Hartnell, the First Doctor, may look like the oldest of the Doctors but in reality he’s the youngest. This iteration of the Doctor came with a granddaughter, Susan Foreman, that traveled with him to Earth. I don’t think anyone can imagine Matt Smith with a granddaughter.

The Third Doctor, Jon Pertwee, was a very technologically advanced Doctor with more than his fair share of toys and gadgets. One of his prized possessions is his canary-yellow roadster he liked to call “Bessie”. Even with all of his intelligence he was considered a “dandy” by the First Doctor.

The Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker, made the scarf his own. His signature scarf was what set him apart from the other doctors, well that and a robot dog named K-9. He was the longest running on-screen doctor with seven years under his belt.

Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor, took the character away from humor and silliness. He made the Doctor more scientifically accurate, and at times darker and grittier than the other doctors.

Paul McGann’s term as The Doctor may have only lasted for only two appearances, but his contribution is still considered canon. The number of spin-off novels and audio plays makes him one of the most prolific of The Doctors.

Christopher Eccleston took the character in another direction, a less eccentric one. This Doctor only really had one consistent companion, Rose Tyler, that was just as independent as the Doctor.

Considered by many to be the quintessential Doctor, David Tennant made the character his own. This Doctor took the story to another level with his interpretation of the character. He made the Doctor a much more fun loving alien. He may have been centuries old but he definitely didn’t act his age.

Matt Smith may have been physically the youngest Doctor of the bunch but in reality the oldest. This iteration took quite a bit from David Tennant and continued with the fun doctor act. His personality immediately silenced many detractors as he definitely filled David Tennant’s shoes.
