Pokemon Developer Releasing Badass Elephant to PS4, Xbox One, and PC Tomorrow

Nothing pocket-sized about him.

Game Freak, best known for their work on the Pokémon franchise, is releasing something quite different from their usual fare tomorrow. Tembo the Badass Elephant is a 2D platforming game bound for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starring a pachyderm equivalent of John Rambo.

In the game, Tembo is called into action by a former war ally to save his friend’s native land from an invading army. The game will consist of eighteen levels and features a hand drawn cartoon style.

For an elephant, Tembo certainly appears to be quite nimble, as shown in the launch trailer released today. He charges through solid concrete, flips tanks, dives, and performs acrobatic maneuvers surprising of something his size.

The gameplay in the trailer looks swift for the most part, with quickly chained actions allowing for fluid level traversal, though a few scenes depict a more ponderous approach in environmental puzzles. There is also a boss that is a drone resembling a bee, which is either clever or groan-inducing.

Either way, Tembo the Badass Elephant will be available on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and Steam tomorrow for $14.99.
