The Season 6 Game of Thrones premiere was on Sunday, and Pornhub has released details on how the premiere impacted the site’s traffic – and searches.
In a post yesterday, Pornhub reported a decrease in visitors during the hour-long Game of Thrones season premiere on Sunday – a 4% decrease, to be exact. Considering the site gets more than 60 million daily visitors, that’s no small number.
The premiere impacted more than just the traffic. Throughout the month of April “Game of Thrones,” always a popular search on Pornhub, was slightly above average. However, the report indicates that in the days leading up to the premiere, GOT related searches “shot up,” peaking at 370% on Sunday, April 24. According to the report, searches for Game of Thrones on the site saw increases of +200% for both the premiere and finale episodes of Season 5, with an average increase of 80% in related searches every Sunday in between.
The most common terms searched for alongside “Game of Thrones” are “Sex Scene,” “Parody,” and “Porn.” The most frequently searched actors, actresses, and characters were Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Sibel Kekilli (Shae). The top terms searched for prior to Game of Thrones were “gamer girl,” “medieval”, “cleopatra” and “spartacus”.
