FuRyu and Lancarse will bring turn-based RPG Monark to the West in early 2022, with NIS America handling the game’s localization, and the game has received its announcement trailer. The game had been announced for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, but NIS America will also be adding a PC release for the West.
Monark takes place in a school called Shin Mikado Academy when a deadly Mist surrounds it, as its trailer shows. To save your friends, you must enter the Otherworld, which is filled with Daemons. Along the way, you’ll befriend four companions who can lead you to four separate destinies.
NIS has confirmed that Monark will have both English and Japanese voice acting. A $99.99 limited edition is now available for preorder on the NIS America website. It includes a collector’s box, hardcover art book, limited soundtrack, “Seven Sins” cloth power, and a “Pieces of Ambition” set of five acrylic stands.
The game was originally revealed through a leaked issue of the latest Famitsu magazine and mentioned that several former Shin Megami Tensei staffers were involved. Monark will release in Japan on Oct. 14, 2021, with Asian versions of the RPG also receiving Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean subtitle support. These versions will receive English voice-overs as well at a later date, presumably when Monark launches in the west in early 2022.
