Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announced that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the multiplayer portion of the hit 2020 game, will receive a standalone digital release on September 3, and at the same time it will also receive a new Rivals mode. Rivals involves two teams of two competing to defeat waves of enemies.
By defeating enemies, players will collect Magatama that they can use to impede and sabotage the opposing team. For example, spending Magatama on Shades can block Curses, Hwacha fire, and even your opponent’s purchases. Spending enough Magatama unlocks Final Stand waves, which players must complete before the other team does in order to win. There will also be a new Gear Mastery system that focuses on progression and rewards. Players with level 110 gear will have the ability to bind them to a class to activate “Mastery Challenges.” This raises the level cap to 120 and eventually adds a second perk slot to unlock. A new ability and techniques will also be included for each class to unlock.
New PlayStation trophies and cosmetics will be added to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends as well when the Rivals content arrives. And when Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut launches, there will also be a new patch update that incorporates community feedback. The Survival mode will be rebalanced to shorten the session length, and new weekly Survival Nightmare challenge variants will be implemented. More cosmetics will be available in Legends for players who’ve earned them in the single-player story campaign and New Game+.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut launches on August 20 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and Rivals mode and the standalone Legends release arrive on September 3.
