The latest Pokémon Legends: Arceus video from The Pokémon Company and Nintendo gives us a better look at the Hisui Region, plus the reveal of the Arc Phone, the addition of “alpha” and “noble” Pokémon, and a new Scyther evolution called Kleavor. From throwing Poké Balls from the back of a Basculegion to meeting the citizens of Jubilife Village, the new Pokémon Legends: Arceus footage shows that there’s a lot to do.
The Celestica Flute in particular will help with riding, as it summons rideable Pokémon to help players traverse the region. Said rideable Pokémon include always-majestic Wyrdeer and Hisuian Braviary. There is additionally a seemingly endless number of costume customization options to show off in places like Jubilife Village. Jubilife further includes a photography studio, general store, crafting shop, and pastures, which serve as a location where players can leave their caught Pokémon. Additionally, early in the game you will receive the Arc Phone, and “Its distinctive appearance might lead one to suspect it has some connection to the Mythical Pokémon Arceus.” It appears to have a “strange power” to guide players.
Moving on to more threatening info, Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduces dangerous alpha Pokémon, which are “larger than normal and have glowing red eyes. … They’re stronger than their regular counterparts, and they’ll be quite aggressive in chasing and attacking players that stray too close.” Arceus also includes noble Pokémon, which have received a “mysterious blessing” and are especially powerful, with apparently unique abilities. Some may help you, while others may be territorial. Some nobles have gone into inexplicable frenzies lately, and “Once frenzied, these Pokémon are incredibly difficult to rein in, which forces the people of Hisui to turn to the Galaxy Expedition Team for help. As part of the Survey Corps, you will be called upon to quell the frenzies of the nobles.”
Additionally, in what might be the most exciting monster reveal yet for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, we get a look at the Bug/Rock-type Pokémon, Kleavor, an evolution of Scyther. Kleavor sports giant ax hands and noticeably quick movement. The Pokémon Company explains that this Scyther evolution is born from the use of special minerals found in the Hisui Region. You can see Kleavor, rideable Pokémon, Jubilife Village, and more in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer below.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus launches for Switch on January 28, 2022. In the meantime, The Pokémon Company has been busy cooking up Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, two remakes of the original Nintendo DS games coming to Switch this November. Another video posted today goes over some of the revamped features and how they’ll be a bit different for those who played the original game.
