Pokémon Legends: Arceus has added Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark to its list of region-specific Pokémon in a new trailer. Both monsters, which typically feature darker colors and grim looks, will be painted with watercolor pinks and whites when found in the Hisui Region. They’ll each be Normal / Ghost-types and still manage to intimidate in their own ways. Catch a glimpse at Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark before Pokémon Legends: Arceus comes to Nintendo Switch early next year.
The Pokémon Company has shared additional background information about Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark. After humans drove the Zorua from other regions, the four-legged Pokémon migrated to the harsh climates of the Hisui Region. However, they soon perished after being unable to come to grips with the chilled weather. Their new Ghost-type versions now haunt the lands, powered purely out of spite for humans and other Pokémon. Spooky, right? Well, things get weirder. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ not-so-open world, Zorua will also sometimes mimic the appearance of trainers who wander in the wilderness alone, using the power of spite it harnesses from its fur.
Then there’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ even fluffier Hisuian Zoroark, which projects “terrifying illusions” through its thick coat of fur. The Pokémon Company adds that “the illusions that Zoroark projects have expressions of such utter malice toward every last thing upon this world that those who see them are said to be driven mad by the terror.” However, Hisuian Zoroark has been said to show compassion to the few it considers family or friend.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus launches on January 28, 2022, and in other, less ghostly news, it will come with a few bonuses for those who purchase the game before May 9, 2022. In addition to the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono cosmetics, early purchasers will also gain access to the Baneful Fox Mask, which bears resemblance to the fox-like features of the Hisuian Zoroark.
