After years of waiting, campaign changes, and exciting multiplayer announcements, the Halo Infinite launch trailer is here ahead of its PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S launch on December 8. The game’s open sandbox gameplay is one of the trailer’s highlights, but Master Chief’s conflict with the Banished has never seemed more epic. Microsoft and series developer 343 Industries want Halo Infinite to be a return to form for the franchise, and that has never been clearer than in the launch trailer.
Halo Infinite was announced in 2018 as 343’s follow-up to Halo 5: Guardians. When a campaign gameplay video in 2020 failed to meet fan expectations, the studio and Microsoft decided to delay the game’s release by ultimately a year, hoping to give the project the love it needed to live up to the hype. In that period, Halo writer Joseph Staten returned to helm campaign creation on Infinite after leaving the series nearly a decade ago, and 343 Industries has offered many updates to fans about progress made in the past year.
Halo Infinite won’t tell the story of Master Chief’s battle against the Banished until December 8, but its multiplayer already launched a few weeks back. So, if the launch trailer isn’t enough to help with the short wait left, players on Xbox and PC can jump in now.
