Shin Ultraman from Shin Godzilla, Evangelion Creators Gets Epic New Footage

Shin Ultraman teaser trailer 3 3rd Shinji Higuchi Hideaki Anno Godzilla Neon Genesis Evangelion Eva creator Japan release date May 13, 2022

A new teaser trailer for the movie Shin Ultraman has arrived, ahead of its release in Japan on May 13, 2022. In addition to cramming a whole lot of action and human drama into 30 seconds, the trailer showcases the main theme for the movie, “M87” from Kenshi Yonezu. Shin Ultraman is being directed by Shin Godzilla co-director Shinji Higuchi, and Shin Godzilla co-director and Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno oversaw the planning and script. Hard plot details aren’t easy to come by though.

The new Godzilla and Ultraman exist under a shared initiative called the “Shin Japan Heroes Universe,” which also includes Rebuild of Evangelion and the upcoming Shin Kamen Rider. Shin Kamen Rider will arrive in March 2023. Basically, if you like stuff that involves Hideaki Anno, you have a whole lot to look forward to, even though the new Ultraman and Kamen Rider do not have a Western release planned yet.

Takumi Saitou is playing the transforming protagonist in this movie, and Masami Nagasawa will be his partner. Other cast include Hidetoshi Nishijima, Koji Yamamoto, Tetsushi Tanaka, Daiki Arioka, Akari Hayami, Ryo Iwamatsu, Toshihiro Wada, Toru Matsuoka, Kyusaku Shimada, Keishi Nagatsuka, and Hajime Yamazaki.

However, if you need a fix of new Ultraman in English right this instant, Marvel Comics has a fun comic running sporadically. It began with The Rise of Ultraman, continued with The Trials of Ultraman, and will continue again with The Mystery of Ultraseven this summer.
