Marvel’s next Disney+ series is almost here, and that means a full-blown trailer for it dropped at San Diego-Comic Con. Reaction to the initial trailer and its heavy reliance on CGI She-Hulk and regular Hulk was a mixed bag, but the second, official She-Hulk trailer… basically confirms that the CGI does look weird.
In the second trailer, we first see Bruce Banner / Hulk helping Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) live as a Hulk on a remote island somewhere. She seems pretty damn good at it, so the training stops and she returns to her life as a lawyer, except she’s been recruited to defend superpowered people, like Abomination (Tim Roth), whom you may remember from The Incredible Hulk back when Edward Norton played Hulk. There’s also some possible fourth wall-breaking action going on, as the series is intended as an MCU comedy.
Honestly, the CGI looks pretty good whenever it is all CGI people, but it does still get a little “uncanny valley” the moment actual human characters are walking around with both her and Hulk. Still, the more intriguing aspect of the official She-Hulk trailer is that Wong, from the Dr. Strange films, shows up, seeming to suggest that She-Hulk will have plenty to do with the unfolding multiverse that this phase of the MCU is kick-starting.
Finally, there’s that ending teaser. We already know it’s Daredevil, but this is our first look at his new, black costume in action, and it looks pretty solid. Now, just how brooding and edgy the character will be in comparison to his original Netflix series is still up in the air, but it is exciting to see him, especially as we’ll now get a new series with the character.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will release on August 17. But there’s so much more MCU info where that came from, such as the full timeline for MCU Phase 5 and the reveal of Captain America: New World Order.
