Ubisoft is about to bring viewers a number of video game spinoff shows, including one based on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The Hollywood Reporter reports Ubisoft plans to hit all age groups with the future of its animated programming plans.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe might be the most exciting and surprising inclusion in the lineup, especially considering Netflix Castlevania series producer Adi Shankar is attached as well. About Shankar’s involvement, Ubisoft Film & Television managing director Helene Juguet said, “Adi is such a great fan of video games. We share the same culture and references. It’s been great to give him the freedom to do something very fresh and bold with our characters.”
For the tween demographic, Ubisoft is producing a currently unnamed “cybermystery” series with some basis in Watch Dogs. Just like with Captain Laserhawk, details are sparse beyond promotional images.
Child viewers are getting some new content, too, in the form of a “Mars-set Rabbids Invasion special.” A Rayman-inspired adventure-comedy show is coming, as well as Hungry Shark Squad, based off mobile game Hungry Shark. Check out a first look at the Rayman-inspired and Hungry Shark Squad shows respectively below.
The report added that Ubisoft is working on putting together a sketch comedy animation series about video game culture. Ubisoft has not shared any timeline for its release plans, but the pictures give us at least a little to chew on until more is shared.
In related news, an animated Cuphead show is finding its way to Netflix sometime in the future.
[Update: An earlier version of this story reported these animated series will be for Netflix, but this is not confirmed. We regret the error.]
