Who Is Cletus Kasady, AKA Carnage, in the Marvel Universe

Before I dive into Kasady in the comics, here’s what happened with him in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Essentially, players have to deal with a death cult known as The Flame throughout the game. After completing the questline, players learn that Kasady is actually the group’s brutal and deadly leader. In the end, he escapes with a Symbiote, setting up his eventual transformation into Carnage.

Created by David Michelinie and Erik Larsen, Kasady debuted in 1991’s Amazing Spider-Man #344. A prolific and deadly serial killer, Kasady bonded with the Carnage symbiote, which is the offspring of Venom. Together, Carnage and Kasady have proven themselves some of the most deadly villains in the history of the Marvel Universe.

With Carnage, Kasady has the ability to regenerate damage and manipulate his body into a weapon. Overall, Carnage is one of the deadliest forces in the Marvel Universe, and in the past, Spider-Man has had to team up with Venom and other characters to take him down.

As a child of the ’90s, I’m deeply excited to see Kasady in the Marvel’s Spider-Man Universe. Although not every Carnage story is great, Insomniac has shown a deft ability to explore such villains in a way I find deeply interesting. If Carnage is the villain of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, well, I’m extremely down for that, though there’s also a fair chance he’ll end up in some DLC down the line.

And that’s who Cletus Kasady is in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
