Dead Cells: The Bad Seed, the first DLC content pack for the game, just got a release date in its reveal trailer. Players will explore the toxic and calming nature environments of the Dead Cells universe when they hop into The Bad Seed come Feb. 11. With this nature-themed early-game content come two additional levels — The Swamp and The Arboretum — which bring their own sets of monsters. A new boss called Mama Tick is here to take on too, with developer Motion Twin saying the enemy is “on par” with Dead Cells’ first boss, The Concierge. Players can pick up the DLC for $5 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Like most things in Dead Cells, everything in The Bad Seed looks to provide an incredibly difficult experience. Prepare yourself with the trailer below.
Dead Cells is an action platformer that made a name for itself with intense difficulty. Players take on the role of a small corpse-controlling being as they battle through procedurally generated worlds while finding ways to upgrade their character. This sidescroller doesn’t have much in terms of a direct plot, but Dead Cells’ fan base has done what it can to piece together the game’s various hints at world building.
Motion Twin commented on its decision to release paid content after handing out free updates for so long via the DLC’s Steam page: “We’ve been releasing free updates for Dead Cells for over a year now(;) this paid DLC is designed to support that effort, allow us to expand the game even more, and ensure that Motion Twin have the time they need to make their next game one they’ll be proud of and you’ll be stoked to play.”
If you’re on the fence about giving the game a try and you happen to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, give Motion Twin’s rogue-lite a shot, seeing as the game came to Microsoft’s subscription service in September of last year.
