One of Fallout 76 players’ biggest requests will be granted in just a few months. Bethesda announced today that Fallout 76 NPCs will arrive in the online action role-playing game when the Wastelanders update releases on April 7. The sizable update will be free for anyone that bought the standard or deluxe version of the game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC. The overhaul is Bethesda’s latest attempt at improving the 2018 release, which released to a negative reaction among longtime Fallout fans.
April 7 will be a major day for Bethesda as not only will Fallout 76 NPCs become available, but the RPG will officially arrive on Steam as well. The game and all of its DLC (including Atoms, Fallout 1st membership, and Tricentennial Pack) will be available alongside the new quest line. Beyond fully voiced NPCs, the Wastelanders update will include new locations to explore, unique enemies, additional weapons, and a revamped reputation system. All of this is shown off in the latest trailer for Fallout 76, which is a quick minute-long look at what to expect.
While the main content in the Wastelanders update is completely free, there will be two Faction-themed content packs available for purchase. No price point was given for the DLC, but players can purchase either the Raider content bundle or Settler content bundle once Fallout 76 NPCs become available. Each pack features several themed items ranging from a C.A.M.P. deployable to stash boxes and power armor skins. A full list of items can be found at Bethesda’s site.
