The Last of Us Part II will take the spotlight in another new State of Play presentation set for later this week. Sony announced that a 20-minute video focusing on the post-apocalyptic sequel will premiere Wednesday, May 27 at 4 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. PT, making this the second State of Play demonstration to come in the last two weeks. This deep dive into The Last of Us Part II will be hosted by Naughty Dog game director Neil Druckmann, with the final eight minutes being a sequence of brand new gameplay. As with the previous showcase, there won’t be any new updates on the PlayStation 5.
The lead-up to The Last of Us Part II has been tumultuous. While most would say everything we’ve seen of Naughty Dog’s latest looks promising, the game has seen multiple delays. The game was finally locked down for a launch date of June 19 after being moved out of May due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Naughty Dog delivered a story trailer for The Last of Us Part II earlier this month.
The previous State of Play presentation from May 14 was for Ghost of Tsushima. That event brought a more comprehensive look at some of the game’s finer features ahead of its July 17 release date.
You can catch this week’s State of Play on the PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels.
