A new trailer for stunning Soulslike Mortal Shell has been released, revealing more of its unique gameplay alongside a beta test start date. The video debuted as part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming event and revealed a PC-exclusive beta start date of July 3. If you were interested in the footage shown back when developer Cold Symmetry announced the game, you’ll definitely want to check out the clip below.
If Mortal Shell’s visuals aren’t enough to pull you in, then maybe you’ll take notice of how the game incorporates enemies into its Soulslike gameplay loop. As many as four unique Shell types can be possessed, allowing players to make use of each vessel’s particular combat style. When the player’s HP reaches zero, they will be knocked out of their inhabited Shell. Additionally, the developer says Mortal Shell will offer a “compact experience,” projecting that the main game should take around 20 hours to complete.
Thankfully, you’ll be able to get your hands on the game in less than a month if you make it into the beta. Speaking with IGN, Cold Symmetry explained that the beta should take one-to-two hours to complete and sees players traveling through a frozen shrine that is capped off with a beastly boss fight.
You still have time to sign up for the beta test, which begins on July 3 for PC. Mortal Shell is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Q3 2020.
