Dirt 5 has locked down an October release date for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with more news on a next-gen release scheduled to come later. Developer Codemasters shared the Oct. 9 date today, letting fans know that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are still in the cards for this year. To celebrate the release date announcement, the studio released a new trailer, highlighting cast members such as Troy Baker and Nolan North.
Dirt 5 promises “racing amplified” thanks to its “most ambitious career mode ever.” Players take the wheel as a rookie up-and-comer who finds themselves in the middle of a rivalry between Alex “AJ” Janiček (Baker) and Bruno Durand (North). AJ serves as a mentor of sorts for the player, while Bruno will be the game’s antagonist. A lot of the story will be fleshed out during in-game podcasts, where racers will come on for interviews and conversations.
Dirt 5 features a campaign, split-screen, and online mode, with tons of other features and vehicles included, too. The off-road series is famous for its messy take on competitive racing, and the latest entry is no different. You can watch Codemasters’ announcement trailer that gives a better idea of gameplay.
Dirt 5 launches on Oct. 9 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X releases are still planned for this year, and a Google Stadia launch is scheduled for early next year.
