Happy Friday, everyone! Following yesterday’s exciting announcement of a new Fable game, rumors about its possibly being an MMO were promptly squashed. Red Dead Online is finally getting a new update too, and the return of G4 TV is happening next year. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on July 24, 2020.
The New Fable Is Not an MMO
A Twitter user by the name of @ChronoTK alleged that the new Fable game would, in fact, be an MMO and not a single-player adventure like the other games in the series. However, this rumor has been debunked by several sources — some of which told Windows Central that Fable will be a single-player action RPG. As the outlet points out, it’s possible the new Fable will incorporate online functionality, but not enough to make it an MMO. You can rest easy knowing you’ll be able to play it solo.

G4 Making a Return in 2021
What year is it?! G4 seems to be making a return, at least according to a teaser video posted by IGN today. The TV network featured gaming and tech coverage from 2002 to 2014 and was beloved and missed by many. The teaser prominently displays the year 2021, along with the tagline “We Never Stopped Playing.” It’s unknown how the network will be making a return, or the specifics of its plans, but we’ll likely find out more later this year.
Crash Bandicoot 4’s Early Impressions Are Positive
The idea of getting a new Crash Bandicoot game is somewhat scary because the IP is so iconic and important. Luckily, early impressions of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time seem to be positive, with many previewers praising its accessibility, while still offering challenges for veterans of the series.
The early build features a new mask that allows Crash to slow down time — an ability that most critics seemed to enjoy. And of course, other new abilities will make their way in the final version. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 2.

Far Cry 6 Will, in Fact, Run at 4K on PlayStation Platforms
When Far Cry 6 was first revealed, the internet was upset (as it usually is) about the game’s supposed lack of 4K support on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The reason had to do with Far Cry 6‘s advertising that read “4K Ultra HD on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X only.”
However, PS4 and PS5 versions will support 4K, as “4K Ultra HD” is a term used by Microsoft to describe the resolution on its consoles. This was finally confirmed by Ubisoft to website Cultured Vultures. It’s a somewhat misleading piece of marketing that was made even worse by Ubisoft choosing not to debunk this theory right away. Nonetheless, you’ll be able to play Far Cry 6 in 4K on pretty much every platform.

Rockstar has heard the cries and will be implementing a “massive new update” that is set to launch on July 28, as explained via the developer’s Twitter. You can expect a new Frontier Pursuit, bug fixes, and a new Outlaw Pass, giving players more content and things to do.
