Streets of Kamurocho, developed by Empty Clip Studios and published by Sega, will release on Oct. 17 for PC via Steam for a limited time. The game was announced to celebrate Sega’s 60th anniversary. It is a mashup of the 2D sprite style and gameplay of Streets of Rage 2 and the world of RGG Studio’s Yakuza franchise. The game will only be available for download until Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. PT. However, it is free.
Streets of Kamurocho follows Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima following the death of Tojo Clan’s Third Chairman. Only they can end the chaos that ensues. Both characters are playable, and the game will support local co-op. The Steam page also lists full controller support as well as shared/split-screen functionality. Interestingly, the title will not feature any blood effects and does not seem to support Steam Achievements.
PC is the only platform that Empty Clip’s Streets of Kamurocho is confirmed to be released on. Since it is only a limited-time release, it wouldn’t be surprising if this odd title doesn’t make the leap to other platforms.
The next main entry in the Yakuza series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, will release on Nov. 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and March 2, 2021 on PlayStation 5.
