Battlefield 6 (or whatever it ends up being called) is on track to arrive in late 2021 with “never-before-seen scale,” according to Electronic Arts (EA) CEO Andrew Wilson. During a recent earnings call, the publisher hinted at a bigger and better entry in DICE’s war FPS that is slated for holiday next year, with a reveal said to come this spring.
Wilson added that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S are allowing DICE to ensure Battlefield 6 is the best it can be, saying, “The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise.”
He continued, talking about how far along progress on the game is:
We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community. The next Battlefield is set to launch in holiday 2021, and we are excited to share a lot more about the game in the spring.
Tom Henderson, who has previously accurately reported information regarding Activision’s Call of Duty franchise, stated back in June that Battlefield 6 will take place in a modern-day setting for the first time since Battlefield 4 in 2013. What direction DICE decides to take with Battlefield 6 remains to be seen, but we can expect more updates from EA in the near future as the project is prepared for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
