Sunlight by Krillbite Studio is a short walking simulator where you take a relaxing walk through a hand-painted forest.
The simple objective of the game is to walk amongst the trees collecting flowers. As you explore, you will be guided by the voices of the forest set to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The audio is the primary focus of the game, combining the angelic voices of the Kammerkoret Aurum and haunting layered monologues to establish a tranquil atmosphere that suits the ambition of the game.
The game is undeniably unique. Its experimental nature means that it exists to fulfill a very specific purpose and not one we usually associate with gaming — relaxation through meditation. It is short and simple with excellent sound design and delivers on being a mesmerizing experience, even if some elements don’t match the high caliber of the audio. Sunlight won’t be everyone’s type of experience, but if you are in need of some calm in your life, this game can definitely help out.
Sunlight is available now for $3.99 on PC via Steam with a 10% discount through Jan. 21.
