Bokeh Game Studio, a recently established developer led in part by Silent Hill and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama, has released a video that gives us a peek behind the curtain at what its team is working on. Toyama takes center stage in the video, talking about the unnamed project’s influences and how he came to be a game developer. Most notably, though, the CEO shared 10 images of concept art for the new game. Good news: It’s all terrifying. See for yourself below.
Toyama explains that Bokeh Game Studio’s first game will feature a strong setting, much like his previous games have: “One trait of my games is the setting, what city or village do we evolve in, how did these people get there, what’s their emotional state. This is how I approach games. I’ve been inspired by locations this time as well and started with that.”
As far as what specific setting the game will take place in, Toyama doesn’t offer up much information. Instead, he says that a city he and his family visited in Asia helped draw out inspiration.
“I started to imagine a setting that kept that feeling of evolution and the energy of the people,” Toyama said. “I thought it was a good theme to include in my game.”

Bokeh Game Studio revealed its existence to the public in December 2020. Later that same month, the studio revealed that it is working on a horror action game, with plans to launch the project by 2023. At the time, Toyama said that Bokeh is focused on “making this a broader entertainment experience, rather than a hardcore horror game.” Today’s video gives us our best look at what’s in store, but don’t expect to see the finished project take shape for quite some time.
