Let’s kick off a new week with some more video game news, such as the official announcement of Apex Legends Mobile. Along with that, Celeste developer Extremely OK Games announced its new project Earthblade, Marvel’s Avengers‘ creative director has rejoined Naughty Dog, and more. Apex Legends Mobile Will Get Beta Tests This Month
While Respawn Entertainment made mention of the mobile version of Apex Legends a while back, we didn’t have much information about the upcoming title. Now, the developer has officially introduced Apex Legends Mobile and will be kicking off its first beta later this month. Details are still scarce, but we do know this is a completely new version of the game designed around having a touchscreen and will not be cross-play-enabled with PC and console.

Activision Outlines Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season Three
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will be getting their Season Three updates on April 22, 2021, and Activision has detailed what to expect from both games this week. For starters, Black Ops Cold War will be getting four new multiplayer maps, along with a new Zombies Outbreak region. As for Warzone, you can expect a map update, several new weapons, Operators, a brand new battle pass, and more. Check out the full details below.

The Latest NieR Replicant Trailer Shows Off a New Episode Called Mermaid
Square Enix has released yet another NieR Replicant trailer, this time focusing on new content such as a new episode called “Mermaid.” The trailer highlights new costumes, weapons, and an extra set of dungeons with 15 Nightmares. It has also been confirmed that many cast members from NieR: Automata will be making an appearance in Replicant. NieR Replicant will launch on April 23, 2021.
Celeste Developer Reveals New Game, Earthblade
Extremely OK Games, the acclaimed developer of Celeste, has revealed its latest game, Earthblade. As the developer explained on Twitter, Earthblade is a “2D explor-action game in a seamless pixel art world.” It’s unclear what it will look like in action, but the video below is referred to as a “vibe reveal,” showing off a logo and setting the tone. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s likely years away.

Marvel’s Avengers Creative Director Shaun Escayg Has Rejoined Naughty Dog
Marvel’s Avengers creative director Shaun Escayg has rejoined Naughty Dog, as confirmed via Twitter today. Previously, Escayg was best known for working as a cinematic animator on The Last of Us, as well as serving as the creative director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Escayg then left to join Crystal Dynamics to create Marvel’s Avengers but has come back to Naughty Dog after that game shipped. It’s unclear what Escayg is working on at Naughty Dog, but as the company states, it’s “looking forward to doing awesome stuff together.”
