December is a commendable month for charitable giving by many MMO companies and players. Gravity Interactive, publisher of Ragnarok Online and Requiem: Bloodymare has big plans to keep the giving going throughout 2010. Find out how Gravity plans to do this below.

1. Recently Gravity Interactive introduced a holiday campaign across all of its titles. The drive is specifically designed to benefit a children’s charity. Tell us more about this please.

Over 4.5 million Gravity users and community members have the opportunity to purchase limited edition items to help them “Fight” against fierce enemies while aiding in the “Fight” against world hunger. These limited edition items will provide Gravity users an incredible benefit in game while “Fighting” fierce monsters and enemies in Gravity’s variety of game titles. Gravity is donating 100% of the proceeds from these limited items directly to Feed The Children to help in the “Fight” against world hunger.

2. Why was the decision made to get so actively involved in Feed the Children?

We’ve always wanted to work hand in hand with our users to support a charity that both Gravity and its communities can identify with and Feed The Children was the perfect fit.

4. Is the campaign going well? How much has Gravity raised for Feed the Children?

The campaign has been an amazing success. All three of our communities love the limited items and are really excited to be helping Feed The Children this Holiday season to help the less fortunate.

5. If the campaign is successful, does Gravity have plans to continue it throughout the year?

This campaign has definitely been a success and we expect it to continue to be a success through the end of the campaign. We’re definitely thinking about running more campaigns to allow our users additional opportunities to get some amazing in game items while also being able to help some great causes.

6. Gravity recently announced the implementation of the ‘Ragnarok Online Cares’ campaign. Tell us more about that please.

Due to the current economic climate many people have unfortunately been laid off or let go from their jobs and have been under a lot of stress trying to find a job and pay their bills. To help reduce this stress on our community Gravity Interactive, a world renowned massively multiplayer online game publisher, is proud to launch its Ragnarok Online Cares Campaign. Starting Dec. 22nd Gravity is providing Free three month subscriptions to Ragnarok Online subscribers who have been laid off or let go any time since June 1st 2009.

7. What do players need to do to access the benefits of the Cares campaign?

Users who qualify can visit http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/download/GravityCares.pdf fill out the associated form and mail it to the associated address. Once we receive the form we will review the applicant and provide them with their free three month subscription.

8. Are there any plans to make the ‘CARES’ campaign available in other Gravity games?

We specifically are running this campaign through Ragnarok because without a subscription you would lose access to your account, characters and friends and not able to continue playing. We wanted to allow our users who were unfortunately laid off to still be able to play with their friends and enjoy Ragnarok while also providing them a little financial relief by removing their subscription cost for 3 months.

In a weary world of corporate profits over all, it’s gratifying to see companies like Gravity Interactive step up to the plate and make a difference in someone’s life. Kudos to Gravity and the players who give so generously!
