They’ve recently cast the actress Gal Gadot as the title character in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Today we give you eight actresses that could have easily filled the heroine’s shoes.
Gina Carano, star of the action flicks Haywire and Fast & Furious 6, would have made a fantastic Princess Diana. She could lend a bit of realism to the fight scenes as she’s already an established MMA fighter, an asset that could only make the character even more believable.
Alison Brie, of Community and Mad Men fame, could play Wonder Woman. She could take the edge off of the character, and give her a sense of humor that can’t be beat. The way that she’s played Annie in Community shows that she has a sense of comedy and a bit of imagination that could make the character of Wonder Woman.
If you want to take the character in another direction you could always go with Zoe Saldana. She’s already an established actor with some serious action cred, take that and you’ve got a Wonder Woman that can act and kick ass.
The lesser known Olsen sibling, Elizabeth Olsen, has made a name of her own in recent years. With amazing performances in Oldboy and Martha Marcy May Marlene she’s proven that she can handle the spotlight. She could give Diana some acting credibility and a name that has some serious potential.
Everyone’s favorite Karen Gillan would shine as the popular character. She’s proven that she can tackle the sci-fi genre with her work as Amy Pond in the wildly popular Doctor Who. She could give Wonder Woman a much needed boost and help her survive in the 21st century.
In 300: Rise of an Empire Eva Green donned armor and became a bad-ass. She could keep the armor and make Diana the vengeful Amazonian she could be. She’s proven herself a talented actress and having a believable Princess Diana would really give this iteration a good start.
The Game of Thrones stand-out Gwendoline Christie is perfect for the role. The Amazonian Gwendoline was born for the part, she’s tall and kicks some serious butt. She may have been born for the role, but she’s got enough on her hands with the Stark kids.
Everyone’s favorite, Jennifer Lawrence, has already been somewhat of a Wonder Woman already in her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. She could just turn Katniss into an Amazonian princess and there you go, perfect Wonder Woman.
