Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will feature HD claymation style visuals.
A new Kirby game is on its way to the Wii U. Revealed during Nintendo’s E3 direct event, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse has been confirmed by the company as a future Wii U exclusive. Much like the last console Kirby title, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, the new game will feature highly stylized visuals, this time aiming to capture a look akin to Claymation.
The gameplay, as shown in a releases trailer for the new game, will in turn make heavy use of the Wii U Gamepad’s touch screen. In the trailer, Kirby was shown to be moved and controlled primarily using a stylus which the player will apparently use to draw a track that the classic character will roll and run along. This was put to nifty use in the video during sequences where the player was able to build momentum and maneuver Kirby in interesting and unique ways by drawing the differently directed lines. These controls closely mirror those from the Nintendo DS game Kirby Canvas Curse which released back in 2005.
The game will be presented in full HD and is available for pre-order now. The game itself won’t be hitting stores however until 2015.
