The heretics finally show themselves in this terrifying sequence of Outlast 2. In “The Ascension”, you’ll have to rapidly escape an army of incoming monsters.
The heretic threat is real. While crawling through the debris of the old mining facility, one of these gangly, naked creeps will drop down right in front of you. There’s nothing you can do but run and hide.
“The Ascension” is a tricky sequence, and you’ll need to follow the exact steps below if you’re looking to make it out of this chase alive.

Judges Pt. 3: The Ascension
Blake wakes up underwater. Move forward toward the shore. It looks like you’ve lost your “friendly” companion, and a creature runs by in the distance. Simply stand up from a crouch to leave the “pool” and jump out into the blood-soaked environment.
Turn right and walk by the heads on spikes to find a ruined doorway. Slip inside and continue into the next room on the right. More creatures are scurrying around outside, but the goal is to crawl into the gap where the bright spotlight is located. It’s a white light, so it stands out from the red.
One of the creatures appears on the stairs straight ahead as you crawl. Immediately back out of the crawl space. It will follow you. The naked thing crawls under the space. When you back out, run to the hallway on the left. There’s a jammed door here. Hide in the barrel, and wait for the second naked thing to burst through the door. When it wanders off, exit the barrel and sprint through the now-open door, continuing up the steps.
You may need to lure it away, then use the crawlspace to circle around. Go upstairs to the attic area and look right for an open doorway. Enter and turn right, slipping through the narrow space. Another creature will begin busting through the wall. Sprint and turn left, hopping the desks and running up the stairs.
The rest of the path is relatively straightforward. Rush up and over the barrier of dead bodies, then up another flight of stairs to a narrow crawlspace. Slip through and you’ll be temporarily safe, through the creatures are still trying to bust their way inside.
Quickly run to the left side of the tool cabinet and push it to create an opening before the naked things break through the window. Sprint into the bright window straight ahead to escape this sequence.
