Netflix’s live action Cowboy Bebop adaptation is beginning to take shape. The streaming service announced the show’s core cast via the NX Twitter account, which is devoted to promoting Netflix’s science fiction and fantasy offerings. John Cho (Star Trek) will play protagonist Spike Spiegel, with Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) and Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: The Lost Kingdom) rounding out his crew of space traveling bounty hunters as Jet Black and Faye Valentine, respectively. Alex Hassell (Two Down) will play Spike’s nemesis, Vicious.
We’re still waiting to hear who will be playing teen hacker Radical Edward and get a first show of the ship’s adorable corgi Ein. The first of the Netflix show’s 10 episodes has already been written by Thor: Ragnarok writer Christopher Yost, though a release date hasn’t been announced. Shinichiro Watanabe, the director of the original Cowboy Bebop anime, will serve as a consultant for the series.
