Wii Browser Delayed Until April

Nintendo delays the release of the full Wii Opera web browser.

Nintendo has delayed the full release of the Opera web browser for the Wii until sometime in April. The browser was originally scheduled to be free until June and cost 500 Wii Points ($5) afterward, but no word has been given whether that offer will be extended. The full feature set of the Wii Opera browser includes improved font compatibility, quicker bookmark access, instant “www” and “com” buttons, faster load times and the ability to hide the toolbar.

An Opera representative tried to offer a reason for the delay. “Opera and Nintendo are continuing to finalize what promises to be the ultimate Web surfing experience on the Wii console. The two companies are working closely together to meet user requests for browser features and to enhance the overall Wii Web experience.”
