Warren Spector’s Junction Point Studios has been acquired by Disney Interactive.
Graham Hopper, general manager and executive vice-president of Disney Interactive Studios, said, “Warren Spector‘s unique talents as a leading creative force in the world of videogames, his knowledge and passion for Disney, and his legacy of storytelling and character development adds a unique creative dimension to our studio. Our shared visions on creativity, innovation and storytelling will allow us to touch individual players in ways never before possible.”
It is expected that Junction Point will work on translating some of Disney’s most visible properties to next-gen consoles, as well as develop original titles. Junction Point co-founder Spector said, “I believe that the creative talents of our two companies and our shared ambition to bring distinctive, compelling experiences to gamers make this an ideal alliance.”
Warren Spector is a highly-regarded figure in the videogame industry as a designer and producer of numerous notable games including Wing Commander, Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Thief: The Dark Project, and Deus Ex. Founded in 2005 by Spector and Art Min from the remnants of Ion Storm, Junction Point has not yet released any games, but is currently working on an unannounced project.
