A Sony employee has been caught red-handed altering the Halo 3 Wikipedia page, saying that the hotly-anticipated title, “won’t look any better than Halo 2.” The edit happened in April, but wasn’t found until yesterday, by Wired and N4G using the WikiScanner.
Ever since the WikiScanner, a program created by Virgil Griffith that logs the Wikipedia edits made from certain IP addresses, was released in the middle of August, compromising edits, by major entities ranging from McDonald’s to the United States Senate, have been revealed.
In games industry related edits, EA recently got taken to task for editing its own entry to remove references to EA founder Trip Hawkins, whose legacy apparently doesn’t sit well with the current higher-ups.
