Microsoft Cuts Xbox 360 Price in Japan

Microsoft announced today it will be cutting the price of the Xbox 360 console in Japan as the system continues to languish at the bottom of the sales chart.

Beginning November 1, the price of the 20 GB Xbox 360 Premium will drop from roughly $350 to $300, while the Core system will drop to around $240. Microsoft will also be introducing a new bundle package which will include Viva PinĂ£ta and Forza Motorsport for about $350.

The move comes in response to the ongoing failure of Microsoft’s console to crack the Japanese market. For the week ending October 14, only 6161 Xbox 360 units were sold in Japan, a huge jump over the previous week’s total of 1547 units but still far behind the 20,575 Wii and 12, 365 PlayStation 3 systems sold in the same period.
