Nintendo has reported a problem with the newly released Super Mario Smash Bros. Brawl disc.
The company said in a recent release that “a very small percentage of Wii consoles have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem.”
The malfunction is apparently a byproduct of the game’s double-layer disc.
Nintendo’s FAQ on the issue recommends customers fill out a form for free repair, with free expedited shipping included.
The company notes that returning the disc to the store in favor of another will not fix the problem on the user’s end.
