Steven Morgan has stepped down from his position as president in charge of North American operations.

GameStop president Steven Morgan has tendered his resignation and will no longer be with the game retailer as of May 2.

Morgan’s duties focused on heading North American store operations. With his departure, Chief Operating Officer Dan DeMatteo will handle North American operations while Chief Executive Officer Dick Fontaine will control international business, including Canada. Just days before, Executive Vice President of Distribution Ronald Freeman surprisingly stepped away from his job for unrelated personal reasons.

At age 56, Morgan was previously the President of Electronics Boutique’s Canada business before its acquisition by GameStop in 2005.

A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission revealed that Morgan will earn with $952,763 on November 3 this year.

Company spokesman Chris Olivera explained that Morgan “has made the decision to reapply his energy and drive outside of the company.”
