Bethesda Softworks has announced the signing of a long-term partnership with Splash Damage, the U.K. developer behind Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
Splash Damage has won over 80 Editor’s Choice, Game of the Year and other awards for the online multiplayer FPS Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and also earned accolades for its first release, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which took Game of the Year awards from GameSpy and IGN. Bethesda is best known for its epic Elder Scrolls role-playing games, as well as the highly-anticipated Fallout 3, currently in development.
“Bethesda Softworks has repeatedly been responsible for outstanding games as both publisher and developer,” said Paul Wedgwood, owner and creative director at Splash Damage. “Both of our studios share a passion for creating great games, and we’re confident that this partnership will result in even greater experiences for gamers. We’re really looking forward to working with Bethesda.”
“This could not be a more perfect fit,” added Bethesda Softworks President Vlatko Andonov. “We are extremely impressed with Splash Damage and the quality titles they produce. They are highly creative and innovative, and have demonstrated a high level of dedication to their projects. We are confident that gamers everywhere will be thrilled with the offerings from this collaboration.”
What those offerings will be, however, remains unknown. The companies have promised more details about Splash Damage’s “brand new project” later in the year.
