Take-Two More Than Just GTA Series, CEO Says

Take-Two’s profitability does not rely solely on the Grand Theft Auto series, insists CEO Strauss Zelnick.

In a recent interview, Zelnick said he was aware of investor concerns that the company only turns a profit in years when a GTA title is released.

“I know that is one of the impressions that’s been levelled at the company. The reason it’s been an issue is because of the company’s economic volatility,” he said.

He said that while volatility is an irremovable aspect of the entertainment business, “we do think it is our obligation to deliver a profitable enterprise year in and year out.”

The chairman pointed to the success of BioShock and Carnival Games, in addition to [i]Civilization[i] titles, noting that half of Take-Two’s titles that have sold more than a million copies are fully owned by the company.

“It’s just not true that we are only about GTA,” he said.
