Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space Get Sexy Bundles

EA’s latest bid for your pocket cash actually makes paying more than double the price for each game an enticing prospect.

Given the buzz around the upcoming releases of Mirror Edge and Dead Space this fall, it’s no surprise EA would want to cash in on the hype with some very pricey, and synergistically minded, limited-edition bundles. High price tags aside, EA’s marketing folks have already managed to sink their talons in with these insidiously tempting offers.

Working off the high-pace delivery aspect of Mirror’s Edge, the dizzying first-person action platformer developed by EA DICE, a limited edition $130 bundle featuring a red Timbuk2 messenger bag – like the one carried by the game’s protagonist Faith – is being offered exclusively through EA’s online store. The bags interior flap also bears Faith’s likeness. The bundle includes the bag and a copy of the game, and it’s available in Xbox 360 and PS3 editions on Nov. 11.

At a slightly heftier price, the Xbox 360 version of EA’s hyper-gory, limb removing, sci-fi scare fest is also getting its own limited edition bundle. Thankfully, the Ultra Limited Edition version of Dead Space doesn’t come with a gore-soaked messenger bag, but it does offer a bevy of other goodies. The $150 bundle includes the game with “special ultra limited edition packaging,” the Dead Space Downfall animated DVD with bonus content, custom lithograph art illustrated and signed by Ben Templesmith, a 97-page art book written and illustrated by the development team, a 160-page graphic novel, and an Ishimura crew patch. Whew. Regular editions for the Xbox 360 and PS3 are scheduled to ship on Oct. 14 for $59.99 with the $49.99 PC version shipping the following week.
