New Mass Effect Patch On The Way

BioWare has confirmed that a new patch for the PC version of Mass Effect is on the way that will address many of the lingering concerns and complaints expressed by the fan community.

“We have been watching the different Mass Effect PC forum communities and gathering your feedback on issues encountered while playing Mass Effect PC,” BioWare Community Coordinator Chris Priestly wrote on the Mass Effect forums. “Thank you all for taking the time to provide feedback to help us make Mass Effect PC a better game.”

“BioWare is pleased to announce there will be a new patch for Mass Effect for the PC coming soon,” he continued. “This patch will be jointly developed by BioWare and Demiurge and will be available for all versions of Mass Effect PC (retail, Steam and other digital distribution sources).”

Mass Effect was released for the Xbox 360 in November 2007, with the PC version coming six months later, in May 2008. Unlike many console ports, however, Mass Effect was overhauled to take full advantage of the PC platform, with high-resolution textures, customizable controls, an improved inventory interface and more. Bioware released a patch for the game in July 2008, but apparently isn’t ready to walk away from it just yet.

Unfortunately, no details about what the patch will fix or when it will be available were released. “When we have more information on the content of the patch or when it will be available, we will let you know,” Priestly wrote. We’ll keep our eyes open.
