Prop Wizard Crafts A Rad Gravity Gun

Propmaker Harrison Krix has once again cobbled together a brilliant recreation of an iconic piece of gaming paraphernalia: The gravity gun from Half-Life 2.

Over the past few years Krix has regularly wowed sites just like this one with his props. You may recall him as the builder behind this spot-on Portal gun, this amazing Big Daddy costume or this BioWare-commissioned rifle straight out of the Mass Effect universe.

The dude does excellent work, is what I’m saying here.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that his most recent work, a replica of Half-Life 2’s gravity gun, is likewise very impressive. You can see a nice selection of images at Krix’s website, or if you’re more interested in the nitty-gritty details, his Flickr account has a full pictorial walkthrough of all the pieces that went into the construction of this gun.

The coolest part of this whole thing is that Krix’s talent with epoxy is matched only by his generosity. As with the aforementioned Portal gun, this prop was made specifically to be auctioned off for the Child’s Play charity. That means that whoever ends up winning the auction for this thing will not only have the most realistic faux gravity gun I’ve ever seen, they can also feel safe in the knowledge that their funds are going to help comfort sick kids.

So, hat’s off to Harrison Krix. Both because he’s a wildly talented prop builder and because the man has a heart of gold. Propers Mr. Krix.
