Thief 2: The Metal Age has joined Thief Gold on GOG.
The addition of Thief 2: The Metal Age to Good Old Games isn’t exactly a huge surprise, what with the arrival of Thief Gold on the site last week, but it’s still awesome news and great that it happened so quickly. Thief 2 is bigger, badder and better than its predecessor in just about every way, with deeper characterization and a far more complex plot that sees Garrett forced into the role of hero and savior of a city that would like nothing more than to see him left to rot in Pavelock forever.
Thief 2 is more visually advanced than the original game but still suffers from many of the same age-related issues – this is a 12-year-old game, after all. Fortunately, a “Tafferpatch” at Through the Looking Glass is available which will, according to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, make things as pretty as they can be with just a little bit of work.
GOG’s release of Thief 2: The Metal Age is $9.99 and includes the manual, reference card, avatars, a soundtrack and a “making of” video, not to mention the Soulforge, one of the most memorably grueling videogame experiences of all time. Consider yourself warned – thou art the nail for serious in this one – and don’t miss it!
