Teens Sedate Parents For Net Access

“If they were adults, they could be facing prison time,” says a police spokesman.

Two California girls have been accused of slipping the parents of one of them a sleep-shake, so that the teens could have unrestricted access to the internet. The girls – aged 15 and 16 – have been arrested, and charged with conspiracy and mingling a pharmaceutical with food.

They did it to get around a 10pm curfew on internet access, according to one of the girls, who complained that her parents’ attitude to the internet was “too strict.” The elder of the two, visiting on a sleepover, provided the sleep aids, and between them they managed to trick the parents into drinking the medication, hidden in a milk shake.

When the parents awoke the next morning, suffering from a very peculiar hangover, they immediately smelt a rat. One drug test later – helpfully provided by the police via a $5 test kit – they had all the proof they needed.

“The girls wanted to use the Internet, and they’d go to whatever means they had to,” said a police department spokesman, adding that he’d never encountered anything like this case before. Ultimately it would be up to the District Attorney as to whether the two accused would actually face charges.

“If they were adults, they could be facing prison time,” the police spokesman said.
