No longer will you sit on a train, staring at your phone thinking “I wish I could watch Pokémon on this.”
Pokémon TV is a new app available free on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The app is pretty self explanatory, allowing users to stream episodes of The Pokémon Company’s insanely popular bug collecting anime to a number of mobile devices. The video suggests that it is compatible with both phones and tablets.
50 episodes of the show will be available to watch on the Pokémon TV app, with fresh episodes rotating in on a weekly basis. The episodes will be picked from across all 15 seasons of the Pokémon anime. The app will also be host to “special events” from The Pokémon Company, who have promised “trailers, movies and more!” Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice will be available February 15 – 18, and the animated short feature, Meloetta’s Moonlight Serenade, will also be available for viewing starting February 15, showing in English for the first time.
Standard data charges apply for users streaming content through the app, but the content itself is provided 100% free of charge, without having to create an account or sign up for anything. It will be interesting to see how, if at all, this app will interact with the upcoming Pokémon X and Y. Previously, special event Pokémon were distributed to players over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or by personally visiting Nintendo sponsored events. Could this app see special download codes for event Pokémon?
