Gamers who preorder Call of Duty: Ghosts will receive a free multiplayer map built around the game’s new “dynamic map events.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming in November, but gamers who lay down their money for it now will find themselves also possessing Free Fall, a downloadable multiplayer map featuring the “dynamic map event” mechanic that changes the nature of the battleground as you play. Free Fall puts players into a skyscraper on the brink of collapse, in which elevators run parallel to the ground and windows have become alarmingly transparent floors. As the match continues and the skyscraper grinds and slides, the increasing destruction results in changing pathways, chokepoints and sightlines.
“Dynamic map events change the way players approach the game, and Free Fall does a great job illustrating this new mechanic,” Infinity Ward Executive Producer Mark Rubin said. “As the match progresses, the geometry of the world continues to change and players need to adjust on the fly or else. It’s a really fun new feature that adds layers of strategy and constantly evolving gameplay options for players.”
Free Fall will be included with all pre-ordered copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts, but the rest of you will have to pay for it, although how much it will cost hasn’t been made official just yet. Call of Duty: Ghosts will come out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 5, and is also being developed for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
