Lashana Lynch Will Reportedly Play the New 007 in Bond 25

Lashana Lynch is 007 in James Bond 25

The filmmakers behind the next James Bond movie reportedly have a “popcorn-dropping moment” in store for audiences, as the most recent rewrite of Bond 25‘s screenplay features Lashana Lynch being introduced as Agent 007.

With James Bond (Daniel Craig) in retirement at the end of the last film, Spectre, it makes sense that MI6 would recruit a new 007, and a source told the Daily Mail, “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.

“It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”

The 31-year-old actor is currently known for her role as Maria Rambeau inĀ Captain Marvel. Bond 25, which is also rumored to have Christoph Waltz returning as Blofeld, is being shot right now and is the last turn for Daniel Craig as the iconic spy. From what we know, the film will feature Bond returning to action to take on a global crisis. He’ll also be interested in this new, female 007, which doesn’t bode well for the fate of the returning Lea Seydoux.

“Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks,” the source said, “but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”

Bond 25, as the film is currently known, will release April 8, 2020.
