Rei and Zen of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth have their character backgrounds fleshed out a little more in a pair of character introduction videos.
Promotional videos for dungeon crawler Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, a spinoff of the series that brings together both Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters, have largely focused on the characters we already know and love. The most recent pair of videos now introduces the new characters to Persona Q, Rei and Zen.
Both Rei and Zen have lost their memories. In Rei’s video, she asks Zen not to go inside because she sees “scary things” there, and she says she wants to return with everyone else. Rei also loves to eat. She names off different food now that she’s hungry and relieved. When she doesn’t understand unknown words to her, she usually asks if it’s a type of food. Rei appears wearing the Yasogami High uniform from Persona 4.
As one could probably tell from looking at Zen, he’s much quieter than Rei. His wish is to protect Rei, and he even confronts Persona 4‘s lovable Teddie when he thinks Teddie insults Rei. Zen also wears the Yasogami High uniform, but he also wears a studded collar and what looks like a cape. Zen seems to be mostly concerned about Rei, and he’s closed off to most people. In the video, he says, “People have multiple sides to them; however, that doesn’t mean I’ll be accepting of them.” Persona 3 and Persona 4 had plot points where characters were trying to discover their “true” selves, which meant coming to terms with their multi-faceted personalities and letting go of resentments that hold them back.
Persona Q is scheduled to launch on the 3DS in Japan this June.
